ARUK London Network Dementia Open Day

Nearly 100 people attended this year’s Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) London Network Dementia Open Day, hosted by Imperial College London.

The annual event brings together researchers from London’s leading universities to share the latest developments in dementia research with the public. This year, it took place in the Sir Alexander Fleming Building on Imperial’s South Kensington Campus.

Visitors heard talks from researchers at Imperial, UCL, King’s College London London and the Royal Veterinary College, The Francis Crick Institute, and explored interactive information stalls run by early career researchers from Imperial, UCL and King’s.

Attendees included people affected by dementia, carers, families, students and medical practitioners.

“This is an interactive day for the general public to learn about the latest advances in dementia research,” said Dr Magdalena Sastre, Professor in Molecular Neuroscience at the Department of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London, who organised this year’s event at Imperial.

“The event was very successful, and we received very positive feedback. People appreciated having more information on the disease and on the latest developments in diagnosis, risk factors and treatments.”

The event took place on Saturday 3 October 2026.
