Department of Medicine PhD student Marianna Kapsetaki shares her experience of participating in the Graduate School’s 4Cs SciComm Competition. The event saw 21 postgraduate students from across the College challenged to present their research in three minutes in accordance with the 4Cs: Creativity, Content, Clarity & Charisma.

The Department of Medicine hosted another successful Rising Scientist Day on Monday 4 February. The annual showcase provided an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the work of the Department’s PhD students.
The Department of Medicine sponsors three rounds of travel awards every year for PhD students, allowing them to attend conferences to travel and present their work.
We heard from three recent winners – Mai Alzaydi, Hung En Lai and Francesco De Virgiliis – about their experiences of attending international conferences with the help of DoM Travel Awards funding.(more…)
Dr Wayne Mitchell is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Medicine. Earlier this year, he was awarded a President’s Award for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience in recognition of his efforts to create a better learning environment for students. We spoke to him more about his role for the latest instalment of our Staff Profile series.
The competition took place at Imperial’s South Kensington Campus on 24 April. Participants were challenged to condense their doctoral research in to a talk of 3 minutes or less, convey it to a diverse audience, whilst demonstrating the relevance of science in society, and the contribution their research makes to our day-to-day lives.
