(deadline: 14 Aug)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/early-career-researcher-institute\/networks-events-and-funds\/staff-and-student-networks\/imperial-womens-phd-network\/\">Imperial PhD Women&#8217;s Network<\/a> was established\u00a0last year to improve the student experience for women at Imperial. We are seeking PhD student committee members from all departments across college to run the network, shape the activities and create better opportunities for women at Imperial. In this position, you will\u00a0be required\u00a0to attend bi-weekly lunch-time meetings (30 mins) and help organise and run events as and when\u00a0required.\u202fInterested students should have completed at least one year of their PhD.\u202fIf\u202fyou are interested, please fill out the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/imperial.eu.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_2rzzLyJm6lYTiHc\">application form<\/a>\u202fby Friday 14th August 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Background<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/media\/imperial-college\/administration-and-support-services\/ecri\/public\/networks-events-funds\/PRES-2023-Action-Plan---For-Students.pdf\"><em>PRES 2023<\/em><\/a><em>\u202f<\/em><em>indicated that women PhD students are experiencing less satisfaction than their male counterparts at Imperial.<\/em><em>\u202f<\/em><em> In response to this, ECRI (formally the Graduate School), in partnership<\/em><em>\u202f<\/em><em>with the Union and Associate Provost EDI,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>established<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>the \u201cWomen PhD Perspectives Project.\u201d <\/em><em>\u202f<\/em><em>The<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>objectives<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>of the project were to:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/em><em>Understand more deeply the barriers and challenges experienced by women PhD students at Imperial<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/em><em>Generate ideas for tangible actions the College could take to improve the experience of women PhD students.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/em><em>Report findings\/recommendations to ECRI (formerly the Graduate School), Student Experience Forum, Postgraduate Research and Quality Committee (PRQC) and the Education and Student Experience Committee.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The project<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>comprised<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>of three activities (a women&#8217;s experiences workshop, the collection and review of PhD case studies<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>submitted<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>by women students, and a survey sent to all women PhD students), which informed the final recommendations. A recurring theme, which<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>emerged<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>at each stage of the project, was the need to<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>establish<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>stronger networks for women Doctoral and Early Career Researchers.
