{"id":341,"date":"2025-07-01T09:33:44","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T09:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/education-research\/?p=341"},"modified":"2025-07-15T09:39:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T09:39:05","slug":"celebrating-the-2024-25-sltp-cohort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/education-research\/2025\/07\/01\/celebrating-the-2024-25-sltp-cohort\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating the 2025 SLTP cohort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"823\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-345\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/education-research\/files\/2025\/07\/P1045165-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are thrilled to congratulate the 2025 cohort of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/programmes\/supporting-learning-and-teaching-pathway\/\"><strong>Supporting Learning and Teaching Pathway (SLTP)<\/strong><\/a> on successfully completing the programme!<\/p>\n<p>SLTP is one of Imperial\u2019s <em>Foundations in Teaching<\/em> pathways, specifically designed for staff who play a vital role in supporting student learning but who may not be part of the full-time academic teaching staff. From librarians and technicians to part-time lecturers, learning support staff, and technical specialists, SLTP brings together a diverse and dynamic group of professionals who all contribute meaningfully to the student learning experience. We want to thank this year\u2019s cohort for their reflections and participation!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Running from January to June, the programme combines face-to-face sessions, online activities, and suggested additional workshops to complement practice. Throughout the pathway, participants explore key areas such as interactive teaching, course design, assessment and feedback, inclusive education, and reflective practice\u2014each linked to the <em>Imperial STAR Framework<\/em> and aligned with Advance HE\u2019s Professional Standards Framework. Completion of the programme supports participants in applying for Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) and we are excited to see applications coming in from this year\u2019s cohort, with several successfully awarded already!<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of four structured sessions, this year\u2019s cohort has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developed a deeper understanding of themselves as both learners and teachers;<\/li>\n<li>Explored student learning theories and the purposes of higher education;<\/li>\n<li>Gained practical insights into course design and interactive teaching;<\/li>\n<li>Built strategies for effective feedback and inclusive practices;<\/li>\n<li>Begun to prepare their applications for Associate Fellowship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u2019d like to thank <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.imperial.ac.uk\/a.burke-gaffney\"><strong>Dr<\/strong> <strong>Anne Burke Gaffney<\/strong><\/a>\u2014a proud SLTP alumna\u2014who returned to share her experience since completing SLTP many years ago and the impact it has had on her career trajectory and support of Imperial staff and students. Anne helped us award certificates to the 2024\u201325 participants and shared in with us, celebrating their successes.<\/p>\n<p>A special shout-out goes to Dr Julie Moote from the Educational Development Unit (EDU), who led SLTP for the first time this year with care, insight, and dedication. We\u2019d also like to thank Su Beasley from the EDU for her dedicated behind-the-scenes admin support, which was instrumental in keeping everything running smoothly..<\/p>\n<p>To everyone in this year\u2019s SLTP cohort: congratulations on your achievement and thank you for your ongoing contributions to student learning \u00a0and development at Imperial.
