{"id":257,"date":"2023-07-07T09:44:29","date_gmt":"2023-07-07T08:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/ict-success-stories\/?p=257"},"modified":"2023-12-18T16:18:18","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T16:18:18","slug":"spotlight-on-ingrid-joannou-technology-delivery-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/ict-success-stories\/2023\/07\/07\/spotlight-on-ingrid-joannou-technology-delivery-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotlight on: Ingrid Joannou, Technology Delivery Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" class=\"wp-image-259 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/ict-success-stories\/files\/2023\/06\/Ingrid-for-website-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I am a Technology Delivery Manager which means I work on activities and projects that support our community by delivering technology to meet their needs.<\/p>\n<p>I am currently working on many activites including an identity and access project, finalising a telephony migration to MS Teams, and supporting migration work for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/self-service\/connect-communicate\/office-365\/features\/onedrive-for-business\/\">OneDrive<\/a> and from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/self-service\/connect-communicate\/sharing-and-collaboration-tools\/shared-group-space\/\">group spaces<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My main role in project work is removing obstacles for the team and ensuring all the steps fit together to ensure the best outcome for staff and students.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Always be open to new things, always give your best, and approach everything with empathy.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I recently won the ICT Award for Respect, where my colleagues nominated me for the work I am doing and how I work with them.<\/p>\n<p>They said, &#8220;Ingrid goes out of her way to make meaningful connections and to collaborate. She works very hard to deliver quality results, and is a valued team member &#8211; always keen to learn&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I am lucky to have been highly commended for my Innovation as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/remote\/unified-access\/\">Unified Access project<\/a> work.<\/p>\n<p>You can read about all the <a href=\"https:\/\/sway.office.com\/0zMAHijDdeesYmht\">ICT Award nominations online<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/about-ict\/ict-awards\/\">check out the other winners.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How did I get here?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I have been at Imperial for two years, I was able to join Imperial via a returner\u2019s program after taking a career break.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to my career break, I worked in the retail sector for Habitat.\u00a0 I started there as a Business Analyst and moved up to Senior Business Analyst and Business Area Manager.<\/p>\n<p>I later started managing the UK IT team for the buyers of all stores (excluding UK and Ireland).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;A career break can feel like a lifetime in Technology, so there is still a lot of learning to catch up on.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright wp-image-258 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/ict-success-stories\/files\/2023\/06\/Ingrid-for-website2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Ingrid Joannou\" \/>My future aspirations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A career break feels like a lifetime in technology, as things change quickly, so I feel like there is still a lot of learning for me to catch up on.<\/p>\n<p>But my real passion is understanding social and cultural impacts on organisational behaviour and how to affect change.<\/p>\n<p>I come from a Chinese Reunion Island Mauritian background and being married to a British Greek Cypriot, I am especially interested in the area of social impact.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>My advice<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>My advice to aspiring women in Tech, and also women returning to work, is to always be open to new things, always give your best and approach everything with empathy.<\/p>\n<h4>Want to join ICT?<\/h4>\n<p>We have some great and diverse roles in ICT, and we are always on the look out for the best tech talent.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to join our team check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/about-ict\/join-our-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current job vacancies.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/admin-services\/ict\/about-ict\/join-our-team\/edi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Equality, Diversity and Inclusion pages<\/a> and find out about or activities to remove barriers and create a great place to work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a Technology Delivery Manager which means I work on activities and projects that support our community by delivering technology to meet their needs.
