My professional career has followed the same pattern. This\u00a0expanded into\u00a0looking at whole\u00a0industrial\u00a0systems\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0minimising\u00a0resource\u00a0and energy\u00a0use,\u00a0and decarbonisation.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">joined Imperial in 2019 and\u00a0my research\u00a0develops and applies concepts\u00a0at the interface of engineering,\u00a0economics,\u00a0and policy\u00a0to address industrial decarbonisation.\u00a0I develop modelling and decision-making tools to support\u00a0cost-effective integration and uptake of industrial decarbonisation\u00a0concepts such as advanced materials and\u00a0energy efficiency,\u00a0fuel\u00a0and technology switching,\u00a0carbon capture\u00a0utilisation and storage,\u00a0and greenhouse gas removal.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mitigating climate change involves reducing and eliminating the flow of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The industrial sector is responsible for over 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0also\u00a0at the core of developing low-carbon solutions to support decarbonisation of other sectors like power, buildings, agriculture,\u00a0heating\u00a0and transport.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I was a member of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-business-energy-and-industrial-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(BEIS)\u00a0Advisory\u00a0Board for the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/industrial-decarbonisation-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and I\u00a0spent six months on secondment in BEIS\u00a0contributing to\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/topical-events\/the-uks-industrial-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hydrogen\u00a0Strategy<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. I am also a member of technical working groups\u00a0on industrial\u00a0decarbonisation\u00a0for the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatebonds.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Climate Bonds Initiative<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/actinitiative.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Assessing Low Carbon Transition<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0I\u00a0think it\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/get-involved\/research-impact-at-the-uk-parliament\/ways-to-engage-with-parliament\/academic-stories\/dr-gbemi-oluleye-assistant-professorlecturer-imperial-college-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">important for researchers to engage with\u00a0parliament and government<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0I\u00a0will\u00a0continue\u00a0to\u00a0support accelerating the transition to net zero\u00a0industry using my research outputs in c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ollaboration with other academics, industrial\u00a0stakeholders\u00a0and policy makers.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I spend my free time travelling, volunteering, and developing food recipes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I would like to see nations and people all over the world\u00a0realise\u00a0that equality, equity,\u00a0diversity\u00a0and inclusion is key to effective decision making\u00a0to support climate change mitigation and adaptation.
