\"Ingrid<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honour to be awarded the Imperial College Medal and it\u2019s great to see this type of role and its contribution to the university being recognised.\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ingrid Logan is the Technical Services and Safety Manager for the Dyson School of Design Engineering. Her career at Imperial began in 2008 as Apprentice Technician for the Innovation Design Engineering<\/a> course, a joint programme with the Royal College of Art. Her years of contribution and service to the organisation were recognised with an Imperial College Medal, awarded at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Commemoration Day<\/a>. The medal recognises meritorious or praiseworthy service to Imperial or for having otherwise enhanced its reputation, mission and objectives.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Supporting the student experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ingrid has been a technician for most of her career at Imperial. \u201cIn 2008 I started working as a workshop assistant and gradually progressed to becoming the Technical Services and Safety Manager for the Dyson School of Design Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my current role I manage the School\u2019s technical team<\/a> and workshop<\/a>. We support various activities within and associated with the School, from teaching and research to exhibitions. As safety manager I have responsibility for the health and safety of the department and work alongside colleagues to provide guidance and advice and ensure compliance in the building and workshop.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ingrid\u2019s medal citation recognised the impact she has had on the student experience in particular. \u00a0It said: \u201cShe is regularly acknowledged for enhancing the student experience beyond expectation through her active involvement in teaching, training, assistance of module work and dedication to supporting students to produce prototypes and manufacturing models. Her ability to foster an environment open to learning encourages students to achieve their full potential and inspires her colleagues across departments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Technical excellence<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"IngridIngrid has also demonstrated a commitment to her own learning and recently completed a Level 7 senior leader apprenticeship<\/a>, something she says has helped her develop as a manager by expanding her skills and knowledge and pushing her out of her comfort zone.<\/p>\n

Commenting on her medal, Ingrid said: \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to be awarded the Imperial College Medal for my contribution to the university and department. Having been a technician for most of my career, it is great to see this type of role and its contribution to the university being recognised.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to where my current role will take me. I enjoy learning so I know I will probably want to push myself to be better in my area and in how I support others. I\u2019m also looking forward to seeing how areas like the workshop will develop and how our facilities will change over time to meet the needs of our users.\u201d<\/p>\n
