{"id":2649,"date":"2025-09-19T07:14:27","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T07:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/?p=2649"},"modified":"2025-09-19T13:59:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T13:59:38","slug":"paige-noyce-enabling-international-collaborations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/2025\/09\/19\/paige-noyce-enabling-international-collaborations\/","title":{"rendered":"Paige Noyce: Enabling international collaborations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>\u201cIt\u2019s inspiring being so close to groundbreaking research and knowing that we are shaping the environment that enables it.\u201d<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"525\" class=\"wp-image-2659 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG-20250913-WA0059-Copy-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paige Noyce\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Paige Noyce is Associate Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/about\/global\/singapore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Imperial Global Singapore<\/a>, a research hub based at the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus where scientists work closely with university, industry, government and third-sector partners in the region.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>She joined Imperial in 2018 and worked in several roles in the Faculty of Natural Sciences where she delivered key operational projects and supported funding grants.<\/p>\n<p>Paige&#8217;s current role involves overseeing everything from finances and HR processes to engaging alumni, working with student recruitment and building connections with collaborators.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Supporting international research<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cSupporting research groups on an international scale is something that I really enjoy. You can see the direct impact of managing operations and improving processes. By refining how we operate, we\u2019re unlocking greater impact for science, policy, and society. It\u2019s inspiring being so close to groundbreaking research and knowing that we are shaping the environment that enables it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Singapore, government plays a central role in funding research. Building strategic partnerships with government agencies is an important \u2013 and enjoyable \u2013 part of my role. We\u2019ve been very fortunate to work closely with several government representatives, as well as the British High Commission, and look forward to further opportunities for collaboration and visits between Imperial and the Hub in the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of her role so far has been celebrating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/news\/263094\/imperial-global-singapore-celebrates-year-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one-year anniversary of the hub<\/a>, and its growth from a two-person team to a full office of 26 staff.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2662\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2662\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"594\" class=\"wp-image-2662 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/250707HP1_5577-copy-1024x594.jpg\" alt=\"A group of people standing next to an Imperial Global Singapore sign in the hub's new office\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2662\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Hugh Brady opening the Imperial Global Singapore office<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.imperial.ac.uk\/a.bharath\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Anil Bharath<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.imperial.ac.uk\/a.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Page<\/a> laid the foundations for the hub and it\u2019s been amazing to see the impact of their work since its inception, now continued by <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.imperial.ac.uk\/a.ghani\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Azra Ghani<\/a> and myself. The one-year anniversary was a great celebration of this achievement, and of Imperial\u2019s presence in Singapore.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2665\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2665\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"wp-image-2665 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG-20250625-WA0006-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Paige Noyce in front of the HMS Prince of Wales\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2665\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Paige in front of the HMS Prince of Wales<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another highlight for Paige was being included in celebrations for the 60-year anniversary of UK-Singapore relations, which involved a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/paige-noyce-7731858a_imperialglobalsingapore-uksingapore60-imperialcollegelondon-activity-7344547750698512384-3SCy\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAAAKXhWIB89pRsMZJhinHiTorWMBkuSZbH4A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visit on board the HMS Prince of Wales<\/a> alongside colleagues from UK universities and the British Council.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A launchpad for collaborations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Imperial Global Singapore supports research and education partnerships in Singapore and the wider region, acting as a place where people from Imperial can touch down and make meaningful research connections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re creating a knowledge bridge between countries, with opportunities and a flow of talent and idea to enable and empower the brightest minds around the world to address global challenges together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hub itself is situated on the CREATE campus at NUS, which hosts researchers from universities from across the world, including MIT, Berkley, and Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a unique environment to work in where world-class researchers are steps away from colleagues at other institutions. This proximity accelerates collaboration and innovation in ways rarely seen elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2666\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2666\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"wp-image-2666 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/IMG_8452-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Two researchers working on an electrical device\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2666\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Researchers at Imperial Global Singapore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are several strands of research taking place at the hub and covering shared challenges in energy, health, climate public safety and security, and green finance. These include a decarbonisation programme exploring the potential for building solid oxide fuels using green ammonia and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/about\/global\/singapore\/research\/in-cypher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IN-CYPHER<\/a>, and a collaboration with Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore) focused on healthcare cybersecurity and AI. The hub is also exploring a partnership with HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/news\/265933\/imperial-singapores-htx-commit-partnership-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public safety and security research.<\/a> In addition, Professor Azra Ghani, Academic Director of Imperial Global Singapore, and her research specialties have opened new avenues for collaboration in Singapore in areas such as anti-microbial resistance and pandemic preparedness, such as her involvement with the Ministry of Health\u2019s PREPARE programme.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2667\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2667\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" class=\"wp-image-2667 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"A group of people at the signing of a new partnership with HTX\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Hugh Brady signing a new partnership with HTX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><strong>Get involved<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Paige emphasises that the hub is a great physical space for Imperial researchers to visit, and the team are always open to enquiries about collaborations. She recommends that individuals begin by exploring existing relationships within their department as a starting point, noting that there are lots of Imperial researchers already connected to Singapore.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2670\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2670\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"wp-image-2670\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/imperial-people\/files\/2025\/09\/250707HP1_5694-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"A group of researchers seated on a sofa looking at a screen\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2670\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Researchers at Imperial Global Singapore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNetworks are important in the Singapore research ecosystem, so a great starting point is utilising those existing connections within Imperial. We also share a lot of news and opportunities on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/showcase\/imperial-global-sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn page<\/a>, which we encourage people to follow if they\u2019re interested in working in this space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re continually exploring how we can best act as a launchpad for those collaborations \u2013 in particular, how we build an effective structure to enable people to come and collaborate internationally.
