Oana is the Training Coordinator for the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Great Service\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>rogramme<\/span><\/span><\/a>, a long-term project which will deliver a range of improvements across People, Procurement, Finance and Research Administration at Imperial.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

When she joined Imperial in 2023 as part of the Registry student administration team, Oana focused on coordinating training for student systems and process transformation projects. Now, as part of the Great Service Programme, she\u2019s helping deliver high-quality training to support staff as they move to the new Oracle cloud system, making sure the change feels smooth, engaging, and accessible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The team are about to start\u00a0<\/span>User Acceptance Tester Training<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0ensure\u00a0that the\u00a0nominated\u00a0testers\u00a0from across Imperial\u00a0have\u00a0the knowledge\u00a0they need\u00a0to\u00a0test\u00a0the new system.\u00a0These\u00a0testers\u00a0will\u00a0play a key role in confirming that\u00a0the new system\u00a0works as it is meant to.\u00a0<\/span>Training for all users will be rolled out later in the year ahead of moving to the new system.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Modernising<\/span>\u00a0our core systems<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The move to Oracle\u00a0is a significant system change that will affect\u00a0all our\u00a0staff at Imperial\u00a0\u2013\u00a0with the ambition of modernising Imperial\u2019s core systems\u00a0across People, Procurement, Finance and Research\u00a0Administration,\u00a0improving\u00a0our processes and\u00a0how professional services work.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy role is really varied: I plan and coordinate training sessions, manage\u00a0logistics, and make sure materials meet accessibility and inclusion needs. I also work closely with external teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to create engaging learning resources\u00a0– from\u00a0e-learning to quick reference guides and videos.<\/p>\n

\u201cA big part of my job is tracking progress and collecting feedback so we can keep improving what we do and make sure the training genuinely supports people through the change.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Oana,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0important that the system transformation works for people, not just\u00a0for\u00a0the processes.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy role supports this key operational change by ensuring that\u00a0staff feel confident and supported as they adapt to new tools and ways of working.\u00a0I see my part as helping make the change about people as much as technology\u00a0–\u00a0supporting new, more efficient ways of working that fit with Imperial\u2019s wider goals for excellence in teaching and research.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u00a0really helps us shape training that works for\u00a0different roles\u00a0and teams. The more people engage with us and tell us what they need, the better we can support them through the change and make the new systems work well in practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making a positive impact\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Oana says\u00a0that\u00a0what she loves most about working at Imperial is its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking on a programme as large and complex as Great Service only works when people come together and share knowledge and ideas.\u00a0I also really connect with\u202frespect and inclusion\u202f-\u00a0I care deeply about\u00a0making sure training is accessible and that everyone feels supported through change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exploring London and staying active<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"OanaOutside of work, Oana loves exploring London by walking around different neighbourhoods and discovering\u00a0new places.\u00a0She\u00a0is passionate about language and travel and enjoys staying active through dance, step\u00a0aerobics\u00a0and outdoor walks.\u00a0She unwinds and recharges\u00a0by spending time with close friends.<\/p>\n
