One example was to assist the\u00a0<\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/enterprise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Enterprise<\/span><\/b><\/a><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0team with a high<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">profile pitch event that could no longer take place in person.<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">After finishing my Materials degree at the Royal School of Mines I (almost literally) fell into a role working for the Campus Services Events Department over the summer of 2006. The rest, as they say, is history. As the Events Technical Manager<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0I offer\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">audio visual support to any C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ollege event and oversee a team o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f casual technicians that keep C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ollege events running. We are the sole producer of live\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">streaming video content to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Imperia<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">l<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/imperialcollegevideo\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">YouTube channel<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0with over 130,000 subscribers worldwide.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a department\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ted in the physical, but having a role that projected into the virtual<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0I have been helping my colleagues, clients and staff move from one world to another. I created a Microsoft Teams presence for the department so we could all keep in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">touch, and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0offered my help to the wider catering department to assist with remote working and try to take some workload off ICT.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We have also had to create new ways of replacing physical events with virtual ones. One example was to assist the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/enterprise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Enterprise<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eam with a high<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">profile pitch event that could no longer take place in person. We looked at multiple options and decided to put together a pre-recorded video that would \u2018premiere\u2019 on YouTube and then lead them on to an interactive area to talk to the pitching companies. It turned out to be a great success in a tight timeframe.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">COVID-19<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0has completely changed everyone\u2019s day job. For events, this is even more pronounced.
