{"id":145,"date":"2023-02-21T13:31:52","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T13:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/?p=145"},"modified":"2023-10-23T15:51:10","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T14:51:10","slug":"vice-dean-research-for-the-faculty-of-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/2023\/02\/21\/vice-dean-research-for-the-faculty-of-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"Vice-Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Graham Cooke has accepted appointment as Vice-Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine, with effect from 1 March 2023, for a period of three years.<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the Faculty of Medicine\u2019s senior leadership team, the Vice-Dean (Research) works closely with the Dean: sitting on the Faculty Management Board, chairing the Faculty Research Committee, and holding responsibility for communicating and promoting research collaboration internally and externally.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Professor Cooke joined the College in 2006 as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Infectious Disease and he was promoted to Clinical Professor of Infectious Disease in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0major focus of Professor Cooke\u2019s research has been to provide the scientific evidence underpinning efforts to eliminate viral hepatitis through investigation of disease burden, modelling, and clinical studies. He leads the Infection and AMR theme of the recently renewed NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre and had a leading role in the College\u2019s response to COVID-19, including the REACT study.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Cooke is also a non-executive director and Deputy Chair of the board of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and has held World Health Organisation (WHO) roles covering the WHO Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Graham Cooke has accepted appointment as Vice-Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine, with effect from 1 March 2023, for a period of three years.
