{"id":337,"date":"2024-07-16T14:27:03","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T13:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/?p=337"},"modified":"2024-07-16T14:27:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T13:27:03","slug":"presidents-awards-for-excellence-in-research-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/2024\/07\/16\/presidents-awards-for-excellence-in-research-3\/","title":{"rendered":"President&#8217;s Awards for Excellence in Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/college-staff-recognition-awards\/\">President\u2019s Awards for Excellence<\/a> are annual awards to recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in Culture and Community, Education, Research, Societal Engagement or Sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/college-staff-recognition-awards\/research-excellence\/\">President&#8217;s Awards for Excellence in Research<\/a> recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in early career research, research support, as part of a research team, and in research innovation and external collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>President\u2019s Award for Excellence in Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For Excellence in Impact, which encompasses Policy, Enterprise, Engagement or Translation impact, aims to celebrate individuals or Teams whose research endeavours transcend academic boundaries, creating tangible, positive changes in society and the environment while exemplifying Imperial\u2019s values in action.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Medal winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ben Glocker, Department of Computing<\/li>\n<li>Jonathan Jeffers, Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The President&#8217;s Award for Outstanding Early Career Researcher<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To celebrate the academic excellence and development of Imperial&#8217;s early stage researchers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Medal: Calvin Tsay, Department of Computing<\/p>\n<p>Award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Andrea Giusti, Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>David Labonte, Department of Bioengineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The President&#8217;s Award for Outstanding Research Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To recognise outstanding research that delivers impact, a team&#8217;s international standing and their beneficial contribution to Imperial.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: The Musculoskeletal Mechanics Group, led by Professor Anthony Bull<\/p>\n<p>Award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Steel Structures Research Group, led by Professor Leroy Gardner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The President&#8217;s Award for Research Support Excellence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To recognise the contribution of Research Support staff at Imperial, including the beneficial effects their support has given to Imperial research and the innovative approaches\/good practice they bring to a project.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alberto Collauto, Department of Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Cherry Kingsley, Department of Infectious Disease<\/li>\n<li>Christopher Roberts, Department of Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Rita Carvalho, Department of Surgery and Cancer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The President&#8217;s Awards for Excellence in Research Environment (Ethics, Culture, Sustainability)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To celebrate individuals or groups whose initiatives and actions significantly contribute to nurturing an inclusive, collaborative research environment and promoting sustainable research practices within the institution.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: Veronique Azuara, Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction<\/p>\n<p>Team winner:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professor Henry Rzepa \u2013 Department of Chemistry (PI)<\/li>\n<li>Professor Michael Bearpark, Department of Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Charles Romain, Department of Chemistry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/news\/254697\/imperial-celebrates-2024-winners-staff-recognition\/\">You can read more about the awards in our news story.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President\u2019s Awards for Excellence are annual awards to recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in Culture and Community, Education, Research, Societal Engagement or Sustainability.
