{"id":525,"date":"2025-07-04T10:23:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T09:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/?p=525"},"modified":"2025-07-04T10:46:39","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T09:46:39","slug":"presidents-awards-for-excellence-in-research-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/2025\/07\/04\/presidents-awards-for-excellence-in-research-4\/","title":{"rendered":"President&#8217;s Awards for Excellence in Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/college-staff-recognition-awards\/\"><strong>President\u2019s Awards for Excellence<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are annual awards to recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in Culture and Community, Education, Research, Societal Engagement or Sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/college-staff-recognition-awards\/research-excellence\/\"><strong>President\u2019s Awards for Excellence in Research<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in early career research, research support, as part of a research team, and in research innovation and external collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>President&#8217;s Award for Excellence in Impact <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For Excellence in Impact, which encompasses Policy, Enterprise, Engagement or Translation impact, aims to celebrate individuals or Teams whose research endeavours transcend academic boundaries, creating tangible, positive changes in society and the environment while exemplifying Imperial\u2019s values in action.<\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: Azalea Raad, Department of Computing<\/p>\n<p>Award winner: Steven Niederer, National Heart and Lung Institute<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>President\u2019s Award for Outstanding Early Career Researcher<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the academic excellence and development of Imperial\u2019s early stage researchers.<\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: Richard Jan van Arkel, Mechanical Engineering<\/p>\n<p>Award winner:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nicola Gasparini, Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Pete Lally, Bioengineering<\/li>\n<li>Heather Au, Chemical Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>President&#8217;s Award for Outstanding Research Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To recognise outstanding research that delivers impact, a team\u2019s international standing and their beneficial contribution to Imperial.<\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: \u00a0Transmission\u00a0and\u00a0Reflection\u00a0UltraSound\u00a0Tomography (TRUST)\u00a0research\u00a0team, led by Oscar Calderon Agudo, Earth Science &amp; Engineering, Bioengineering<\/p>\n<p>Award winner: The\u00a0RLA\u00a0Lab, led by Rodrigo Ledesma Amaro, Bioengineering<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lynne Cox President\u2019s Award for Excellence in Research Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To recognise the contribution of Research Support staff at Imperial, including the beneficial effects their support has given to Imperial research and the innovative approaches\/good practice they bring to a project.<\/p>\n<p>Medal winner: Imperial Clinical Academic Training Office (CATO) team, led by Jeremy Levy, Faculty of Medicine<\/p>\n<p>Award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stuart Elliott, Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Jana Pierron, Sargent Centre<\/li>\n<li>Ruth Tipples, Department of Infectious Disease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>President&#8217;s Awards for Excellence in Research Environment (Ethics, Culture, Sustainability)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To celebrate individuals or groups whose initiatives and actions significantly contribute to nurturing an inclusive, collaborative research environment and promoting sustainable research practices within the institution.<\/p>\n<p>Award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Isabella von Holstein, Department of Computing<\/li>\n<li>David Erritzoe, Department of Brain Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/news\/265853\/staff-celebrated-their-exceptional-talent-annual\/\">You can read more about the awards in our news story<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0President\u2019s Awards for Excellence\u00a0are annual awards to recognise staff members who have made outstanding contributions in Culture and Community, Education, Research, Societal Engagement or Sustainability.
