As a senior member of the University Management Board, he will also make a significant contribution to the strategic direction,\u00a0management\u00a0and development of Imperial as a whole.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Professor Matar will be stepping down from his current role as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and the\u00a0search for a new Head of\u00a0Department will\u00a0commence\u00a0shortly.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As previously announced, Professor Nigel Brandon is taking up a new role as\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/2025\/08\/01\/vice-president-corporate-engagement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Vice-President (Corporate Engagement)<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in October\u00a02026.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor\u00a0Omar Matar\u00a0has accepted\u00a0appointment\u00a0as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, with effect from\u00a01 October 2026 for a fixed term of five years.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1104,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[164,319054],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-626","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-engineering","category-senior-leadership"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
