{"id":651,"date":"2026-06-15T09:26:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T08:26:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/?p=651"},"modified":"2026-06-15T09:26:29","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T08:26:29","slug":"chief-research-support-and-compliance-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/senior-appointments\/2026\/06\/15\/chief-research-support-and-compliance-officer\/","title":{"rendered":"Chief Research Support and Compliance Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/karen-sergiou-9ab0a850\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Dr Karen Sergiou<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0has accepted\u00a0appointment\u00a0as Chief Research Support and Compliance Officer with effect from 3 August 2026.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Reporting to the Registrar and University Secretary, in this role\u00a0Karen will\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">lead the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/research-and-innovation\/research-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Research Support and Compliance Division<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which launched on 1 May following the recent\u00a0organisational\u00a0changes to strengthen Imperial\u2019s overall research capabilities. The Division\u00a0comprises\u00a0the following functions:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research Support and Assurance<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research Systems and Information<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research Governance and Integrity<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research Security and Contracts (including EU contracts)<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karen is widely recognised across the sector for her\u00a0expertise\u00a0in research operations, governance, assurance,\u00a0organisational\u00a0transformation\u00a0and digital change.
