The AVF provides evidence-based guidance in the field of venous and lymphatic diseases and its annual meeting is one of the most important phlebological meetings in the world.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Dr D. Eugene Strandness Memorial Lecture is an annual lecture commemorating one of the AVF\u2019s founding members and past presidents. This award recognises significant contributions made to the field of venous research, education and clinical investigation and the person delivering this lecture is chosen by the president of the AVF and confirmed by the AVF Executive Committee. This year, this honour fell onto Professor Alun H Davies (Department of Vascular Surgery, Imperial College London.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1794\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/2016\/03\/02\/28th-annual-meeting-of-the-american-venous-forum\/prof-davies-combo\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1794\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"389\" class=\"wp-image-1794\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/files\/2016\/03\/Prof-Davies-combo-1024x389.jpg\" alt=\"(Left) Professor Alun H Davies delivering the Dr D.
