On Monday 7th October, the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction held its inaugural Away Day.
As a new Department, it was a fantastic opportunity to get the vast majority of our researchers and academics in one place and hear about all the diverse and fascinating work taking place across the Divisions.

Congratulations to a team of MDR researchers who have received a new £1.34M (over for four years) Wellcome Trust grant. The grant will provide support for the Carbohydrate Microarray Facility as a cross-faculty collaboration between the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction and the Department of Chemistry.
Joanna Thompson is the Department Manager for the newly formed Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction. We caught up with her to find out what the role entails and her plans for the new department.

Below you will find some essential information about the new Department, as well as details about administrative systems and support.
Due to cost centre changes for some Depts and some PIs, any existing grant/funding transactions which are in flight without final approval may not appear in the new “organisation” code when the changes have been made, therefore existing proposals MUST be fully approved by COB 23 July. This relates to POs, journals, staff requests, expenses etc, hence you will need inform the approver(s) in the approval hierarchy of any transactions awaiting their approval. If you have a grant deadline between 24 July – 5 August, you are encouraged to contact your Section Manager as soon as possible. (more…)
