Who we are and what we do
IMSE brings together the world-leading researchers in science, engineering, medicine and business at Imperial College London, to find molecular-based solutions to important challenges facing society.
In this blog, we’ll highlight some of the amazing people, projects and ideas that we deal with on a daily basis. We’ll show you why being able to think at the nano-scale (molecules) and mega-scale (factories) at the same time is crucial to solving global problems.
- How can we work out how to reduce the amount of textiles going into landfill unless we know what they are actually made of at a molecular level?
- How can we find the next generation of materials that can absorb energy from sunlight and turn it into electricity, if we don’t know how the current generation of solar materials work?
- How can we better understand how the brain works at a molecular, cellular and tissue level, so that we can better treat mental health conditions?
