SWiFT Improv – 6 weekly sessions beginning Tuesday 19 August (And no—this definitely isn’t an acting course!)
Say “yes, and…” to building confidence, flexibility and focus in a fun, supportive environment. Applied improvisation develops the confidence, communication, creativity and adaptability needed to thrive at university—helping you think on your feet, work effectively with others and respond positively to the unexpected.
You’ll also develop executive skills that support academic success, including:
- Sustaining attention
- Working memory
- Inhibition response
- Flexibility
- Time management
Practicing applied improvisation can:
- Foster collaboration
- Build confidence
- Improve wellbeing
- Give your brain a break and enhance creativity
What you will learn:
- Why improvisation is increasingly used in science, healthcare, engineering and education
- Positive impacts of improv on everyday life and in the lab
- The communication and collaboration skills used by experienced improvisers
What you will do:
- Try out some short-form improv games in a safe space
- Laugh, and have fun
- Celebrate mistakes and risks, seeing them as opportunities for creativity
No scripts. No acting experience. No pressure. Just practical skills, laughter and a supportive group.
