We are pleased to announce that the Call for Proposals for MATcelerate Health 2025 is now open.
Led by the Henry Royce Institute, MATcelerate Health is a translational funding programme supporting the development of advanced materials technologies aimed at solving real-world health challenges. The programme is designed to help high-potential innovations become investable and clinically impactful solutions.
Eligibility
Projects should address unmet needs in areas such as wound care, orthopaedics, bioelectronics, infection control, sustainable materials, or remote monitoring. Proposals involving external partners such as CROs, SMEs, NHS Trusts, or clinical sites are strongly encouraged. Applications are welcome from both academic researchers and spinouts.
Funding is for direct project costs only and may include contracted work with external providers, use of Royce or partner infrastructure, technical de-risking, and regulatory or usability support.
Note: Indirect costs, overheads, or general in-lab work without external validation are not covered.

• Funding amount: Up to £125,000 per project
• Project duration: Typically, 6–9 months (max 12 months)
