Congratulations to S&C’s Prof Brendan Delaney on his two new roles at Imperial. He becomes a formal member of IX and Chair of the Faculty of Medicine’s new AI in Healthcare Committee. He expands on these new roles beow.
I have become a formal member of the faculty at IX. Based at the iHub in White City, IX brings together developers of AI with application areas and industrial partners. IX is a good example of co-location and interdisciplinary working. My interests in the development of AI for diagnosis in primary care make being co-located with maths and computing an opportunity to work closely on some pressing problems for healthcare.
The FoM set up a subcommittee of the Research Committee to bring together researchers in the faculty interested in AI in healthcare. I agreed to chair that committee. We meet monthly and report intermittently to the FOM Research Committee. The group’s purpose is to foster collaborations, raise awareness and act as a source of expertise.
