Further details:

What: ExpertEd delivers free webinars that offer schools and pupils (years 5-8) the chance to learn through live interaction with speakers in a variety of curriculum areas, providing enrichment and curriculum coverage. Our evening Family Science series aims to offer some stretch and challenge to pupils and to encourage conversations about science between capable young people and their parents. Recent series have included a geologist, chemist, physicist, and marine biologist. Some guests use a PowerPoint; some show a short experiment.

Age group: It is for years 5-8 (9–13-year-olds).

When: A Wednesday evening on one of the following dates: 24th Sept, 1st Oct, 8th Oct or 15th Oct. On the night it is 6:30-7:30pm.

Time commitment: Approx 1.5-2hrs. All on Zoom- 30min prep session in advance with our host (Dr Becky Waldren at Swansea University) then on the night 6:30pm tech check/ run through and then 7pm start for 30mins session.

How to join: The prep and session is all done on Zoom, so no travel is required. As the pupils don’t pay to attend, we ask our speakers to give their time voluntarily to help inspire pupils and enrich areas of the curriculum.

Prep for guest: The host interviews you on a science topic you are familiar with, targeting years 5-8 and including 3-4 polls to add audience participation. I can send a recorded example to anyone interested.
