Imperial researchers, students and staff from all faculties and departments are eligible for two seed funding opportunities to support collaboration with partners on the African continent. There is £50,000 split between the two funds and we want to award at least three projects per funding pot. The deadline for applications is Friday 14 November.

This AIMS– Imperial fund promotes and supports early-stage collaboration among academics, researchers and students at Imperial and AIMS centres. The fund encourages exchange between participating research groups through provision of grants to cover travel, workshops, meetings, hackathons, networks and other activities to explore a wide spectrum of collaborative directions.
The AIMS Centres focus on both basic and applied mathematics, covering a large range of mathematical applications in physics, quantitative biology, bioinformatics, scientific computing, finance, agriculture modelling.
There are six AIMS Centres:

- AIMS Senegal
- AIMS South Africa
- AIMS Research and Innovation

The fund encourages exchange between participating research groups through provision of grants to cover travel, workshops, meetings, hackathons, networks and other activities to explore research directions.
Imperial PIs and co-applicants representing partners in both Sub-Saharan and North Africa are eligible to apply.
Please note that this opportunity is open to new collaborations only, i.e., the PIs, as co-applicants, have not been funded by Imperial and have not received grants above £5,000 from external funders before.
