Associate Provost (Sustainability)

Professor Anna Korre has accepted the appointment of Associate Provost (Sustainability) with effect from 1 May 2025, for an initial term of five years. The role will be part-time at 0.5 FTE. 

Reporting to the Provost, the Associate Provost (Sustainability) will act as a champion for sustainability across Imperial, engaging with senior leaders to drive cultural change. Together with the Director of Sustainability, Harriet Wallace, the Associate Provost (Sustainability) will co-lead the development of the current Sustainability Strategy and activities outlined in the Sustainable Imperial initiative, and the development of the next strategy. 

Professor Korre joined Imperial in 1998 as a Lecturer and was promoted to Professor of Environmental Engineering within the Department of Earth Science and Engineering in 2015. She has held various senior roles, including Co-Director of the Energy Futures Lab. Professor Korre has been a member of the university’s Sustainability Strategy Committee and the Faculty of Engineering Sustainability Committee, as well as Chair of the Earth Science and Engineering Sustainability Committee.  

Professor Korre’s research focus is in the areas of modelling risk and uncertainty and assessing the environmental and life cycle impacts of engineering systems. 

Consuls

Professor Ann Muggeridge, Chair in Subsurface Physics, has been elected as Senior Consul from 1 September 2025 until 31 August 2026. This is in succession of Professor Jonathan Mestel who will have served as Senior Consul for three terms. Professor Muggeridge will stand down as a Proconsul once she takes up the role of Senior Consul.

Director of the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication

Dr Ana Costa-Pereira has accepted a three-year extension to her term as Director of the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (CLCC) from 1 July 2025. 

Reporting to the Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience), in this role Dr Costa-Pereira is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for an exciting range of provision designed to broaden Imperial students’ perspectives, give new context to their disciplinary knowledge and allow them to share their expertise for the benefit of society. Focusing on humanities, languages, change makers, and science communication, some of these programmes are also open to staff and members of the public.

Managing Director for the Institute of Extended Learning (IEL)

Heather Haseley has been appointed Managing Director for the Institute of Extended Learning (IEL) and will join Imperial on Wednesday 23 April.

Reporting to the Associate Provost (Digital Lifelong Learning) and the Registrar and University Secretary, in this role Heather will have overall responsibility for the management of the IEL, working closely with colleagues across Imperial to shape and deliver our ambitious vision.

Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Professor Tim Green has accepted the appointment as Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, with effect from 1 January 2025, for a term of five years. Professor Green will succeed Professor Eric Yeatman, who is taking up the post of Vice-Principal and Head of College of Science and Engineering at the University of Glasgow.

Professor Green joined Imperial in 1994 as Lecturer in the department and was promoted to Professor of Electrical Power Engineering in 2005. Professor Green is currently the Academic Lead for Sustainability and is also the Deputy Head of the Department, both of which he will step down from once he takes up the Head of the Department role. He has held several other senior roles such as Director of the Undergraduate Studies and Co-Director of the Energy Futures Lab (EFL).

Professor Green’s research focuses on the analysis and technology to develop a zero carbon electricity supply system that is dominated by variable renewable sources and other inverter-based resources (IBR) such as battery energy storage. He was awarded Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2018.
