Professor Michael Lowe, Professor in Mechanical Engineering, has accepted a one-year extension to his appointment as Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, until 30 September 2025.
Professor Lowe joined the academic staff at Imperial College London in 1994 as a lecturer after obtaining his PhD at Imperial and was promoted to Professor in 2007.
Professor Lowe had previously served many senior roles in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, such as Deputy Head of the Department and Head of the Applied Mechanics Division.
Professor Lowe’s research is in Non Destructive Testing (NDT), with particular interests in structure guided ultrasound, wave theory, and analytical and numerical modelling.
Professor Lowe was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2014.
