Karen Omisore joins Imperial as Academic Registrar on 5 January 2026.
Reporting to the Registrar and University Secretary, Karen will lead the university’s academic administration underpinning an outstanding student educational experience, while accelerating improvements to the digital experience for both students and staff. She will have overall responsibility for shaping and delivering the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of the Registry.
A highly respected leader in higher education, Karen brings a strong track record in student-centred service design and digital transformation. She has held senior roles at the Universities of Southampton and Hertfordshire, as well as London Metropolitan University and the Open University.
Most recently, as Executive Director for Student Administration and Academic Affairs at the University of Southampton, Karen led major service and technology initiatives, improving operational efficiency, data integrity and student satisfaction. She also played a key role in developing new regulatory frameworks, streamlining quality assurance, and improving clarity for both staff and students.
David Ashton, the current Academic Registrar, will retire in April 2026, and will work closely with Karen to ensure a seamless transition.
