Student Representative!

We all can’t believe that it has been nearly a year since we started on the Stratigrad programme. Typically, time is going very quickly and it is already almost time to say hello to the next lot of students starting at Imperial College! This year, I have signed up to be the Postgraduate Student Representative for our section, Computational and Systems Medicine. This involves an induction for the new MRes students in our section, participating in post-graduate education committee (PGEC) meetings (which include free biscuits I’m told) and generally being available to listen to the students in our section.

The most important, however, is that I have the tough task of organising the section’s Christmas Party…Eek! I know I know, ‘it’s only September, how can you be thinking of Christmas already?!’ –  I’ve already been asked countless times what I am organising and it is only 100 days away, that’s why!

Last year we went to The Roadhouse in Covent Garden for a slap up Christmas dinner – American Diner style, Yum! The best bit though was watching some of our colleagues get up on stage and try their hand at ‘Rockaoke’. This is, of course an amalgamation of Rock and Karaoke, where you can sing live with the house band. Great fun!

However, now I must think of an equally good Christmas party idea…any suggestions!?! Roller Disco, Ice Skating, Bowling? Hhhmm, back to the drawing board, wish me luck!
