Professor Franklin Allen will take up the role of Interim Dean of the Imperial College Business School, from 1 September 2023, following the departure of Professor Francisco Veloso who will be leaving Imperial at the end of August to take up the position of Dean at INSEAD Business School. Professor Allen will be working closely with Professor Veloso over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
Reporting to the Provost, as the Interim Dean Professor Allen will be a member of the University Management Board. He will be responsible for leading the Business School, including promoting their profile internationally and fostering excellence in research and education.
Professor Allen is currently Professor of Finance and Economics and Director of the Brevan Howard Centre at the Business School, and has held these positions since July 2014 when he joined the College. He also holds the role of Vice-Dean (Research and Faculty) for the Business School, a role which he will be stepping down from before taking up the Interim Dean role. Professor Allen was previously on the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was Vice Dean and Director of Wharton Doctoral Programs and Co-Director of the Wharton Financial Institutions Center.
Professor Allen’s main areas of research interest are corporate finance, asset pricing, financial innovation, comparative financial systems, and financial crises.
