Kate Price has been appointed as Imperial’s University Librarian and Director of Library Services, succeeding Chris Banks who retires in February. Kate will join Imperial on 20 January, allowing for a handover period with Chris.
Kate joins from Queen Mary University of London, where she has been the University Librarian since 2017, and brings deep experience with a career in academic libraries spanning over 30 years.
Kate began her career with a graduate traineeship at the University of Warwick, followed by posts at Brooklands College in Weybridge, Roehampton University, and the University of Surrey. More recently, she was Associate Director of Collections and Research Support at King’s College London, before joining Queen Mary in her current position. Kate is closely involved with a number of professional associations, including as a member of the Board of Trustees of Research Libraries UK, and has mentored several colleagues through the SCONUL and B-Mentor programmes.
Kate holds a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from Durham University, and an MA in Information and Library Studies from Loughborough University.
