Amanda Wolthuizen has accepted appointment as Vice-President (Strategic Engagement), with effect from 28 October 2024.
Reporting to the President, in this role Amanda will be responsible for the development and implementation of Imperial’s Strategy, Science for Humanity. This includes the development of our international strategy and operations, and the implementation of Imperial’s government relations and stakeholder engagement strategy.
The International Relations Office will therefore now report to Amanda, together with the Public Affairs team, the Imperial Policy Forum and the Institutional Events team. Together these teams will now form the Strategic Engagement Division. Amanda will continue as Chief of Staff to the President.
Amanda joined Imperial in 2017 as Head of Public Affairs before being appointed Chief of Staff to the President and Director of Public Affairs in 2018. Prior to joining Imperial, Amanda held senior communications and external affairs roles at a Westminster think tank and the Russell Group, and she was previously a broadcast journalist producing a range of documentary, political and current affairs programming including the UK’s first General Election Debate. She started her career working in policy and adviser roles in the Australian and UK Parliaments. Amanda is an Associate Fellow at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, and is a member of the Mayor’s Grow London Advisory Board.
Amanda graduated from Monash University, Australia with a double degree in Law and Politics.
