Global Collaboration: Sharing Sleep Research Findings in South Korea

MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship Success

Becoming a senior academic in S&C – Professor Eric Aboagye

Professor Hector Keun talks to Professor Eric Aboagye about his career journey and becoming a Professor of Cancer Pharmacology & Molecular Imaging at Imperial College London’s Department of Surgery and Cancer.

In this wide-ranging interview, Professor Aboagye discusses his own journey, initially moving from Ghana to Scotland to study pharmaceutical sciences and cancer research, and then spending time in America before coming to Imperial. Touching on issues around discrimination in academia, unconscious bias, and improving representation, he also offers important advice, based on his own experiences, for those moving from postdoc towards their first academic position.

Congratulations to Professor Sir Huw Thomas

Congratulations to Surgery and Cancer’s Professor Sir Huw Thomas who was made Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queen’s 2021 New Year Honours.

A Professor of Gastrointestinal Genetics in the Department since 2007, Professor Thomas research aims to define the inherited predispositions to colorectal cancer and refine the management of familial risk.

Alongside his research, Professor Thomas was appointed in July 2014, as the Head of the Medical Household, the medical section of the Royal Household of the British monarch, and Physician to the Queen.
