“I love how flexible my role is – every day brings a new challenge which I am always ready to tackle”

I joined Imperial in 2015, fresh out of university with a degree in Advertising Management and Marketing. I started as a temp and worked in several teams in the College, including the undergraduate office in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the People and Organisational Development team. I learned how different departments operated and how the College worked. This helped me in my next role, in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Centre

I joined the EDI Centre as a temp and then became a full-time member of staff in 2017. I’m currently a coordinator for the team and look after our communications and social media channels, training administration, and any EDI project coordination. I also organise events and support and coordinate our EDI volunteers.

I love how flexible my role is – every day brings a new challenge which I am always ready to tackle. I enjoy collaborating and working with different people across various departments and growing the presence of the Centre.

Most recently I was proud to receive the College’s Julia Higgins Award for my work in helping promote equality, diversity and inclusion at the College. The award recognised my efforts in organising our annual campaign for Women at Imperial Week over the past two years.

The Week has evolved so much over the last two years – from finding different ways to engage with our staff and students (as activities have moved online) and making them feel valued, to raising awareness of the issues that they face. It was an honour to receive this award and be recognised for my contribution.

Looking ahead, personally, I want to travel more and explore new places, and continue to learn more. I can’t wait to see my friends who are scattered across the UK and the US. Professionally, I am open to whatever new opportunities come my way in EDI at the College.

Outside of my busy role, when I’m not binge watching a TV show (you must add The Mindy Project and Never Have I Ever to your list!) or obsessing over dogs (tell your dog I said hi!), I am an avid make-up fanatic, enjoy baking and curling up with a good action-packed book.
