Nikita Rathod, Communications and Events Officer, Institute of Global Health Innovation

“I feel fortunate to play a part in raising awareness of the valuable work that comes out of our Institute, and to present it in a way that does the research justice.”

I joined the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) at Imperial in 2016 after working for a higher education organisation. I wanted a role that gave me the space to explore my creative side in writing, design and social media while using my skills in events organisation.

I enjoy the variety of my day job – I might be amending the IGHI’s website one day, designing or writing social media content the next, or promoting our events. Over the last three years, I’ve learnt many new and valuable skills from the colleagues in my team, from across Imperial and through various training courses.

Working at the IGHI means that I have the privilege of learning about the newest research and the latest innovations designed to tackle problems in global health. I feel fortunate to play a part in raising awareness of the valuable work that comes out of our Institute, and to present it in a way that does the research justice.

Since joining Imperial, I have been impressed by its efforts to be an inclusive organisation. I am currently enrolled on the College’s IMPACT development programme designed for BAME staff. Having just begun the course, it has made me proud to work at an organisation that values diversity and wants to be at the forefront of change.
